Facts about animals flip book zine

In series 11 of my favourite ever show Taskmaster, Mike Wozniak submitted a little song called facts about animals for a prize task and I decided to illustrate it to show my love for the show. Click the link above to see the full thing.

Happy Eurovision 2022

Happy eurovision 2022! As many of you may know, eurovision day is one of my favourite days of the whole year (after Christmas obviously ).  To celebrate this year, I drew the uk entry, as that's where I'm from. Sam Ryder is representing the UK this year as has been doing the uk so proud in the  run up. After the past couple of contests, where we've come last I feel like Sam is the joy and hope we need. He's brought so much positivity to the contest and to the run up and we are proud of him no matter what. The bookies are suggesting we will do well and I think its going to be a positive result if we get double figures and we will have done incredibly well if we get on the left side of the board. But no matter what, he will have done his best and that is all we ask as at the end of the day its all fun and games and about bringing Europe together.

My other favourites are Portugal and the Czech Republic. I loved Ireland's entry but unfortunately, she didn't get through to the final but its a tune that I will listen to loads.

My Spotify is mostly used for  listening to eurovision songs and one of my most listened to song ever on Spotify is if I were sorry by frans who represented Sweden in 2016 who came 5th. Fairytale by Alexander Rybeck is also one of my favourites as him winning is one of my first eurovision memories as I was allowed to stay up when I was 9. I remember the next day, me and my sister bought fairytale on our phones back when you could buy songs for 99p.

What is your favourite eurovision song or memory?

Good luck to all the acts competing tonight and i hope everyone watching enjoys the show.

Leaf insect

I saw a collaborative project on Instagram by eve macmaster to illustrate a bug so I thought I'd join in and paint a leaf insect. On animal crossing I love leaf insects as they blend in to the item icons which I think is a cool little thing for the creators to do. I painted this insect im watercolours and used a dotty technique to give get the insects colouring right. I gave the painting a little shadow as it reminded me of all the butterflies I drew in my alevels for a project I did on patterns in nature that turned into a project on butterflies where I must have drawn about 100 butterflies in every different type of material going . It was a lot of fun but im glad I don't have to analysis every single piece of work I do anymore and I can create work I won't to create a bit more and in a style I want to create work in and not be focused to do cubism and for the billionth time. Anyway I really enjoyed creating this little painting as I hadn't done a realistic watercolor in a little while so this was good to do and get practice with it some more.
Remember I am always open for watercolour pet portraits at a very reasonable price!!!
(The final collection of all the insects submitted in  a little entomology print)

Dog watercolour

Something a little bit different but something I want to do more of. This was a Christmas present for my partners family of their pet dog. She is a very sweet dog. I had never actually done a pet portrait of a dog before this as I'd only ever done cats before. However I think this turned out so well especially for a first time. I am always open to accepting commissions for pet portraits like this at only £40! If you are interested message me on any of my socials or email me and make sure you have a good photo that can be easy to draw from. Watercolours on Watercolour page is the median that the portrait will be drawn using if you want one.

Taskmaster fanart- Aisling Bea

The new series of taskmaster is starting tonight and I'm very excited about that. This illustration is of the queen that is Aisling Bea in her snazzy green suit track suit. She is doing her watercolour cooler moment where she sat in a little best surrounded by ice fishing for chocolate. She looks so cute in that moment and I just had to draw it when I was doing one of my many many rewatches. Series 5 is one of the most iconic series for me as I love all 5 contestants and their dynamic. Taskmaster is my favourite show and I watch it all the time and never get bored of it. What show is like that for you?

Valentine's

This drawing is my version of lucy dillamore 's draw this in your style for valentine's day this year.  The little bike riding bunny is super cute and off to deliver their gifts to their valentine's. I used watercolours, oil pastels, sharpie and digital. Using lots of medians is so much fun and means I got lots of different textures and colours. Joining in with draw this in your styles is great way to get me out of an art block and to try out different styles, media and play around experimenting to things.

Back of business card

This goes with the previous post as this goes on the back of business card.
This card involves 3 common features of my work- puns and koalas and tea. I love all 3 things and I think this illustration tells the viewer a lot about who I am as an artist. The tea bag is also a Yorkshire tea tea bag tag so people have an idea that I am from Yorkshire as as a Yorkshire born person, I am very passionate about Yorkshire tea.
I like it when business cards have a fun design on the back as then I can put it on a pin board for inspiration. I love collecting illustrator business cards and how they show off their wonderful style and express themselves. When I went to thought bubble a few years back, I picked up loads of business cards and put my favourites on the back of my bedroom door for inspiration and followed loads of them on Instagram. I plan on going back to thought bubble hopefully maybe this year and maybe I could even have a stall one day. Have you ever been to thought bubble?

New banner and business card

This piece is the start of my rebranding. I am starting to rebrand in a more professional way and make all my socials a little bit more streamline and matching. This piece is for my socials as a banner/ header and also as a business card. Koalas are a common theme in a lot of illustrations so my business card i felt like had to involve a cute little koala.  I drew a koala drawing on the wall in a child like way to show my illustration style is childlike. Very proud of this piece and am excited to finally making myself a more professional as a freelance illustrator right now.

Magical flying unicorn

This peice is my take on Tim Budgen's dtiys for the publication of his book 20 unicorns at bedtime. I used watercolours to sketch it out and add base colour and then scanned it in to my tablet to draw and add details on top.  This drawing is one of my favourites I've drawn this year so far.

World book day 2022

For world book day this year I wanted to draw a bunch of kids dressed up as book characters ready to go to school to join in with the book day celebrations. I loved dressing up for world book day as a kid and my favourite outfit was an Angelina Ballerina outfit my mum made me out of some of my old ballet outfits. I had a long tail and ears. It was the best.
Did you ever dress up for world book day? What was your favourite costume?

Brew-tiful

Tea based puns are a go to pun for me as a born and bred Yorkshire lass. And of course it has to be cup of Yorkshire tea. As its almost valentine's day, a few cute little love and romantic puns may be getting made by me. So maybe look forward to those. :)

Two little witches

This peice is inspired by a draw this in your style from the secret beauty drawings on Instagram.  They have a wonderful series of drawings following Wilma and Carl the cat. I drew them with their friend Jennifer and her dog. They are all flying in the night sky which i drew in a starry night by Van Gogh style. I painted the original base colour in watercolours and them scanned in to add details and other colours. I am enjoying this style of working as it find it pretty quick but still super effective.

Fermain bay

While watching landscape artist of the year 2022 on sky arts, I wanted to give doing a landscape a go as it not something I do very often. I looked through my holiday photos from 2019 and picked out a picture my sister took at Fermain Bay in Guernsey. In the scene, we see lots of sea and sand. There is also a nice looking yacht and in the middle of the scene is me and my parents having a paddle in the sea. The water wasn't very warm but when on holiday you have to brave the cold waters at least once. I really enjoyed doing this piece and I think it turned out great. The sky and the sea definitely want very well. Landscapes are something I've never been too confident at but I think I'm getting better with each little go at one. I might try a greener for mountainy scene next time.

Chinese New year- year of the tiger

Happy Chinese New year to all those celebrating this week!! Here is a little tiger illustration to the festive season this year as it is the year of the tiger. I was born in the year of the rabbit but was jealous of all my friends who were born in the year of the dragon as dragons are so much cooler than rabbits. I always love the story of the Chinese zodiac, its so fun.
What animal was it the year you were born?

Nacho illustration

This card was made for my boyfriend for our anniversary. I chose to do doritos as they are one of our favourite things to snack on. It was painted in watercolours with details added with a fine liner and coloured pencils. I think I will redo this Illustration and refine it as I like the idea but I think I can execute it better.

Jamming out

This little jar of strawberry jam is having fun listening to music. Its a little pun illustration which I love doing. It was fun doing a pun that wasn't for a greetings card even though I love doing greetings card puns.

Beach fun time

this illustration is of a dad who's taken his two young children to the beach on a sunny day. The dad is sleeping (or as he would say "just resting his eyes") in his deck chair as the children play. The daughter has been busy running about playing in the sea and collecting shell to show off to dad. The son is having fun in the sand and sneakily burying dad's feet in the sand when he's meant to be building a sandcastle.
I loved building sandcastles as a kid, we'd make hugh castles that had big moats filled with water and rivers leading all the way to the sea.
What is your favourite beach memory?
