Autumn vegetables

Little selection of autumn veggies. I was playing around with different brushes and textures on autodesk sketchbook and created this. I think the leek turned out the best. Autumn has the best vegetables and they are the best in soups and stews.
 What is your favourite vegetable?
I like all vegetables pretty much but my favourite are parsnips.

I also got a job so I am managing to adult ok. I stayed very creative throughout the year and created a lot I've very proud of. The picture above is the best 9 of the year according to my Instagram likes. I would say there are probably better and pieces I like more and are more proud of but hey ho I don’t control what becomes my most liked on Instagram.

flowers

This is another piece i did for uni in my first year. This is probably the project I liked the least but it turned out ok. The project was called drawing transformed and you had to explore mark making and different techniques and create a digital piece in the end. I focused on flowers to give my project some direction. The top flowers was doing by making little dashes, the middle one was with stick and ink and the bottom one was stitched. Then there is a selection of mark making in the background to add different textures. The coloured ones were coloured with watercolours. This project involved a lot of scanning in and a couple of stressed out gives up but it turned out OK and I came out of it with a lot of new skills.

vampire weekend album cover design project

For one of my university projects, we had to redesign an album cover and I chose to do one of my favourite albums- vampire weekend by vampire weekend.
The album felt very happy and upbeat so I chose to be bold and brightly coloured. I added designs to every part of the record cover so it was all matching.
I used coloured paper, acrylic paints, sharpie and an old vinyl.
This was probably my favourite piece i did in my first year and had so much fun creating it.

butterflies.

This is one of my final pieces i did for a levels. My project was on patterns in nature and so for a lot of it a ended up drawing a lot and a lot and a lot of butterflies in all different shapes, sizes, colours and materials. The orange and brown pair were done in watercolours. The black and orange ones is acrylic paints. The blue ones are done in soft chalk pastel. They are about A3 size so the whole collection as a whole is pretty large.

house in the forest

As we coming out of lockdown, I think we all fancy a little change of scenery. I would love to escape and live in a little house in the middle of the woods and just take in the peace and quiet. But that doesn't sound the most practical does it?

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone. Here is the drawing I made for this Easter season. I thought I hadn't drawn one of my koala characters in a long time for I thought I would let little kerry go on a big Easter egg hunt in the garden.

Lets help kerry, How many Easter eggs can you see?

And can you spot the magical bunny that put them there?

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend.

Draw the oceans

Over on Instagram, green peace have been running a draw the oceans campaign where by artists draw what you can find in the oceans. Like many, I picked to draw a whale. This cute but not so little whale lives in the oceans is very happy.
Did you know Whales breath air like we do and cannot breath underwater so have to stay close to the surface while underwater. Most whales can only stay underwater for around 35 minutes at a time.

Tree-rex

I got a comment on one of my recent Instagram posts that inspired this fun pun. The T-rex is all decked out for Christmas with his tree costume. He has his little star headband and lots and lots of little colourful fairy lights. I really liked creating this so I  really hope you enjoy it.

Christmas fairy

This character is based on @_banshee_art_ on Instagram 's characters they made into a draw this in your style. I made her into a waitress in a diner serving Christmas pudding up to her customers. I liked taking the dtiys character and running with it and turning it into a proper scene. I hadn't done a dtiys in a while but sometimes I see them feel inspired to do it. However if any of my Instagram followers are reading this, if you start a draw this in your style challenge, even if I don't do it, I alway add it to a saved folder full of dtiys on Instagram to go back to in the future.

Digital portrait

I felt like I had drawn a person in my style for a while so I drew this. She is inspired by one of my friends taking a lot of her features. The shadow behind is one of my favorite things about this as I think it really makes the background glow.  The background is tartan as my friend really likes scotland and outlander.

on the look out

This piece is a drawing of a lighthouse at night with a boat. If you look closely there is a person guarding the lighthouse. I love some of the textures I got in the piece with some of the brushes on autodesk sketchbook.  I love the textures of the sky and the pen I used on the land with the dry marker. This is mostly a texture and brush try out piece so the actually drawing isn't that important to me but I think I still like the idea.
