Fly paper airplane fly

An illustration of a girl throwing a paper plane. I was playing with creating a black and white greyscale illustrations. I drew it originally in colour and then made it black and white in my drawing app layer by layer.  I loved drawing this as it was very different to what I am used to. Greyscale illustrations are fun as you have to think differently about the colour you are picking so the drawing works.

Nativity! Fanart

This is a piece of fan art I did to celebrate my love for the Christmas film nativity. Painted in my moleskin watercolour sketchbook with watercolours,  fine liner, metallic ink and coloured pencils. I want to draw a large selection of the characters dressed up in their costumes. I had a lot of fun creating this piece as i got to watch the film and listen to the sound track a lot.

I know its a little late but what is your favourite Christmas film?

Merry Christmas. A Family Christmas dinner

Merry Christmas!!! Hope you've all had a wonderful day whatever you did. Its a quiet one for me but I think that's nice sometimes. This illustration is of a family sitting down for Christmas Dinner.  The dad is carving the turkey. The mum and grandad are raising a toast and one of the daughters and the grandma are pulling a Christmas cracker to tell a terrible joke and wear a ripped paper crown that never fits. It was done in watercolours and fine liner. I painted it in my moleskin sketchbook. I maybe would change the blue walls to another colour but oh well, too late now. I wanted to do a nice full illustration to put in my portfolio and with lots of characters interacting with each other and a full family.

What is your Christmas Dinner like? Whats your favourite item on the table?
 Mine is roast parsnips

Christmas eve

Well its that time of year again, Christmas time! Its come round again quicker than ever. In this illustration, i drew a brother and sister up past their bed time to catch a glimpse at the man with the bag. Father Christmas has brought them all their lovely toys to enjoy. They have left out a mince pie, a snowball cocktail and a carrot which is what I always used to leave out too.
I did this all monochrome so it would work in a middle grade 6-10 year old type of book.

Sleep well all tonight and I hope santa visits you too.

Diwali

An illustration to celebrate diwali aka the festival of light. I enjoyed drawing this as I got to look into more traditional Indian clothing to draw for the characters. As it is the festival of light, I played around with glowy brushes on sketchbook to make it everything shiny and glowy.

Lydia at the tiki bar

Lydia is an original character designed by francesca Damkar aka @fadartworkpage over on Instagram. Fran hosted a draw this in your style and this is my entry. I took Lydia and put her on the beach. She is leaning on a tiki bar with a pina colada. Her fan is in front of her face so she looks mysterious her admirers. The sun is just setting over the ocean and its very peaceful.
I really enjoy joining in with draw this in your style challenges as it lets me draw outfits and characters i wouldn't normally think of. I like to place other peoples characters in situations as it helps me work on settings and scenes.
Doing draw this in your styles also helps bring other people who wouldn't normally see my work to my feed and see my style and work which is good as the Instagram algorithm can be difficult but if I can join in with these challenges for fun and it helps my growth, that is always a positive.

felix and bolt the Huddersfield Station cats

This is a watercolour painting of the most famous names in Huddersfield. Its felix the cat and bolt the cat. They live at the train station and everyone loves them. I've painted them on the train station platform as a train is pulling in. The train station as iconic blue painted doors and big windows and is made of stone.  The front of the station is also beautiful. Its very pretty with tall pillars.

A young boy and his dog

This is an illustration is to help explore and improve on drawing toddlers. This toddler is playing with a dog in the garden. This kid is just super cute in his little dungarees with a tiny little dinosaur on the pocket. I had a lot of fun with this and he is inspired by some of the kids at the place I work in the day.

Woman walking a chicken

Based on a draw this in your style from Instagram, here is a digital drawing of a woman walking a chicken. I like to think she's some upper class woman who owns a big estate but is allergic to dogs so has to walk a chicken instead. The chicken is her little princess and is way too pampered for a little chicken but it has a great life.

Wild Child

Emma Roberts as Poppy Moore in Wild child is another iconic film from my tween years. I loved the concept of boarding school as a kid. There was this book series called secrets at St judes that I was obsessed with and them books made me love the idea of a boarding school but obviously the reality of boarding school probably isn't as cool or filled with drama as in the movies and books.

St. Trinian's

A fanart piece of a character from the 2008 film st trinian's. I used to watch this film all the time and loved it. The quote on the side is from the song girls aloud that is played at the end of the film. The st trinian's girls are badass girls that are cleaver and ruthless.  The hockey sticks are the best weapon a girl needs to this girls and I fully agree.

Rory the Lion

To celebrate reaching 1000 followers on my Instagram, I decided to create a draw this in your style for my followers to join in with.  The character I created is called Rory the lion. He is very young and is enjoying a day in the sun. He's got his teddy bear and a 99 ice cream. The happy little bees are buzzing around.

If you are reading this, please join in even if you aren't a drawer. Its a great activity to keep the boredom away for a little while. If you want to join in you can change it however you want and have lots of fun with it. Use whatever material you want, change the setting or activity, change the mood, be creative! When you've had a go, share it on whatever social media you want and tag me and use the hashtag on my original drawing.

Good luck! Have fun! Be creative!

Sunday Football

After I did the little ballet dancer, I wanted to do another illustration of a character moving so I drew a footballer. This scene captures a young boy at his Sunday morning football game with all the parents watching on in the background. I often feel like a gravitate towards drawing girls as I am female myself so I like to mix it up by drawing a male character every now and again.

Question of the day- do you like football? If so, who do you support?

Princess walks and fairy runs

This drawing is of a young Ballerina at her ballet class done on autodesk sketchbook. I really enjoyed creating this and figuring out how to do the studio mirrors which I think turned out well.
I did ballet from a very young age till I was 17 years old and I think ballet will always be a keen interest an passion of mine. I also helped teach the 3- 6 year olds which was very fun especially as I got to go right back to basics and do all the fun little exercises such as the princess walks and fairy runs.

Question- did you ever do ballet as a kid?

Little lion dino

This drawing is of a funny and cute little hybrid creature i designed. He is kind of a lion and kind of a dinosaur and kind of just a bright and colourful bundle of joy. He is very small and lives in the grass so you probably won't be able to spot him in the wild.
As a character design, I really like this character and want to develop him further. I would like to come up with a cool name and story with him in the future to take him on little adventures.

Ho ho ho its Father Christmas

On the door of one of the days of my advent calendar, it said can you draw santa? And well I thought I'd give it ago. This jolly old fellow is busy this time of year and is excited to spread some happiness to the world in what has been a tricky year for so many. I tried to draw the northern lights in the background but it didn't go too well but its a nice splash of colour in the background.

Question of the day---  What do you leave out for father Christmas on Christmas eve?
We always used to leave out a small bottle of snowball, a mince pie and a carrot for the reindeer.

Elves packing the sleigh

A fun little illustration of some of Santa's elves packing all the presents for the children in the sleigh. They are inspired by the elves in the simpsons in the show that Maggie loves. I've not done many illustrations with lots of humanlike characters in one scene like this in ages and I still feel like I need to improve with doing more full and exciting scenes. I hope you enjoy this Christmas scene. :)

Christmas fairy

This character is based on @_banshee_art_ on Instagram 's characters they made into a draw this in your style. I made her into a waitress in a diner serving Christmas pudding up to her customers. I liked taking the dtiys character and running with it and turning it into a proper scene. I hadn't done a dtiys in a while but sometimes I see them feel inspired to do it. However if any of my Instagram followers are reading this, if you start a draw this in your style challenge, even if I don't do it, I alway add it to a saved folder full of dtiys on Instagram to go back to in the future.
